Dive Time Remaining
Dive Time Remaining provides a 'real' number in minutes. This calculation considers both Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, displaying whichever allows less time.
Choose Your Dive Mode Display
The Veo 250 is as versatile underwater as it is topside. Upon starting your dive, the Veo 250 will simply display your current depth, how long you can stay there and cylinder pressure. While many divers have asked for such simplicity and ease of use, you know that with all the Veo 250 features, there must be more. And there is. Simply press the button to see more information. Is this information important to you on a full time basis? Leave it there. Just want to check it and then move on to another display? You can do that too. It's up to you and your new Veo 250.
Oversized Digits
Take the Oceanic challenge: When shopping for a new dive computer, compare the displays. When it comes to viewing critical information, which would you rather see at 100 feet?
Water or Manual Activation
Is it a good idea to check your computer before entering the water? You bet. Could you forget to activate your computer? Sure. The Veo 250 features push-button or automatic activation, triggered by water contact. A benefit of push-button activation is easily verifying operation and cylinder pressure, but in case you forget, or simply choose not to activate your computer, it can be as simple as jumping in the water.
Audible Alarms with Flashing LED Warning Light
The Veo 250 features a variety of system and user-customized audible alarms, alerting you to situations that pose a potential danger, or simply serve as a convenient reminder.
Audible Alarm Acknowledgement™
Have you ever had difficulty hearing your computer’s audible alarm? Perhaps that little beep signifying a potentially dangerous situation was timed perfectly with some large exhaust bubbles rushing past your ears. Or maybe it seemed to be insignificant as that huge manta ray soared overhead. You won’t miss the Veo 200’s audible alarm. Once triggered, the alarm will sound continuously for 10 seconds. We know what you’re thinking… “That’s nice, I’ll definitely hear the alarm, but isn’t that going to annoy me and everyone else in the water?” We thought of that too. The alarm’s job is to get your attention so that you look at the computer. Once it does that, simply press the button and it will stop. You’re a responsible diver and Oceanic treats you that way. If you really want to exceed your pre-set maximum depth alarm by a couple of feet to capture that award-winning photograph – go ahead!
Air or Nitrox
The Veo 250 acts simply as an ‘Air’ computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. As your training and experience grow, the Veo 250 is designed to grow with you, being easily programmed for Nitrox mixtures from 21% to 50%.
Oceanic Personal Dive Computer Algorithm
Decompression theory can be trusted only as far as it has been demonstrated by actual test dive data. In 1987 a unique series of experiments were conducted by Diving Science and Technology (DSAT). Commissioned by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), these Doppler ultrasound monitored human experiments conducted by Dr. Michael Powell produced the most comprehensive data set that exists for recreational divers to this day. These data were used to validate the PADI Recreational Dive Planner and are the basis of the algorithm used in all Oceanic Personal Dive Computers (PDCs).
"The ultimate adjustable algorithm." That's the way divers, instructors and Oceanic Pro Dealers refer to Oceanic PDCs. Our color-coded bar graphs provide complete control of your margin of safety for each dive. Want to be a bit more cautious? Make it a personal rule to never enter into the yellow caution zone, or stay one pixel away, or – you get the point. Now you can even program several of our PDCs to do it for you with our patent pending Nitrogen Bar Graph Alarm; set it once and let your computer alert you when your bar graph reaches that level.
Automatic Safety Stop Prompt
A brief audible and visual alarm remind you as you approach 15 feet. An automatic 3-minute timer counts down to zero. As in any other dive mode, you still have access to other pieces of information, and there is no penalty should you choose to disregard the safety stop.
FastSet™ Menu System
Speed through menu items and set modes easily and quickly with Oceanic’s FastSet Menu and intuitive dual button operation.
Date and Time Stamp
The Veo 250 features time of day on the surface as well as underwater for quick reference. Time and date stamp also helps you to easily identify specific dives in Log Mode or PC download memory.
User Friendly Mode Icons
All Oceanic computers feature bar graphs and universal icons that help you to quickly understand the information displayed on the screen at a glance.
Graphic User Interface™
Using the recognizable logic of green, yellow and red color-coding in conjunction with bar graphs, the diver has at-a-glance information. As easy to understand as a traffic light, the Graphic Diver Interface helps you to easily monitor No-Decompression status, Oxygen Accumulation, Ascent Rate, and Air Time Remaining.
Automatic Altitude Compensation
All Oceanic computers automatically compensate for altitude up to 14,000 feet, giving adjusted no-decompression times and depths. They even automatically recalibrate the depth display for freshwater instead of seawater.
Diver-Replaceable Batteries
All Oceanic computers feature diver replaceable batteries. This can be a real trip-saver on board a live-aboard boat!
Battery Hot Swap™
An added benefit to diver replaceable batteries. The “hot-swap” feature allows you to change batteries between dives while maintaining all calculations.
24-Hour Fly Countdown and Calculated Desaturation Time
The Veo 250 features both a dual 12-hour countdown timer and calculated Desaturation Time, the theoretical time required to off-gas all residual nitrogen at sea level.
Variable Ascent Rate Indicator™
Some computers simply flash an icon, telling you that you’re ascending too quickly. The Veo 250’s Variable Ascent Rate Indicator bar graph acts as a speedometer, allowing you to very precisely control your ascent rate via the green, yellow, and red bar graph.
Depth-Dependent Ascent Rate
The Veo 250 features a depth-dependant ascent rate, allowing increased rates at deeper depths and providing additional safety as you near the surface.
SmartGlo® Backlighting
Want to verify your set mode options before your night dive? Press the side button to activate the backlight and go ahead! A small photo-sensor in the face of the Veo 200 analyzes the intensity of ambient light each time another button is pressed. If it’s dark, SmartGlo backlighting will be there for you when you need it, and it will preserve battery life when you don’t.
24 Dive On-Unit Log Book
The Veo 250 features on-unit data storage capacity for 24 dives. Date and time stamp makes locating and viewing a specific dive quick and easy.
Optional OceanLog® PC Interface
The Veo 250 features a watertight, plug-in connection for fast and reliable PC download. Optional OceanLog software provides intuitive post-dive analysis and logging. You have the option to add and/or edit many pieces of information to customize your log book, with data such as depth and decompression status during a dive, maximum depth, bottom time, air consumption, air time remaining, no-decompression status, descent and ascent rate, surface interval, and any violations recorded automatically.
Advanced Dive Planning Simulator
While Oceanic manuals and cue cards are simple to understand, some people learn better through hands-on experience. The on-unit Simulator Mode allows you to run the Veo 250 through actual dive profiles including Air Dive, Nitrox, Gauge Mode, and Decompression. You will see the dive happen on the screen as you would in the water.
While this is not a substitute for reading and understanding your Owners Guide, it provides detailed dive planning, is an excellent auxiliary learning tool, and it is a great way to refresh your memory on the way to the dive site, particularly if you have not been diving for a while. A side benefit is that you can always show your dive buddy what a cool new dive computer you have!
Extended Range Gauge Mode
Divers using advanced breathing gas mixtures or otherwise conducting planned dives beyond the operational limits of the computer may utilize the Veo 250 as an advanced digital depth gauge and bottom timer with detailed PC Interface.
Split Set Mode Access
With a computer as advanced as the Veo 250, you may have to push a lot of buttons to personalize it just the way you want. We have split the set mode into two separate menus. Set Mode 1 includes Nitrox mix, maximum depth alarm, and other options that may change from dive to dive. Set Mode 2 includes units of measurement, PC sampling rate, and other personal preferences that will most likely be set once and forgotten.
USER SETTINGS AND OPTIONS
Air or Nitrox
The Veo 250 acts simply as an ‘Air’ computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. As your training and experience grow, the Veo 250 is designed to grow with you, being easily programmed for Nitrox mixtures from 21% to 50%.
Maximum Depth Alarm
The Maximum Depth Alarm provides an audible warning upon reaching your planned maximum depth. This is an important safety feature for deeper dives or less experienced divers, and it comes in handy for rebreather diving where you can pre-set another level of safety.
Elapsed Dive Time Alarm
You’re on a boat trip and the captain says, “Dive your own profiles, but be back in an hour – we’re having lunch!” Just set your Veo 250 to alert you when your elapsed dive time reaches one hour.
Units of Measurement
Choose between Metric and Imperial settings for depth and pressure.
12/24 Hour Time Format
Choose between 12 or 24 hour time format, independent of Units of Measurement.
Date and Time of Day
The Veo 250 displays time of day on the surface as well as underwater for quick reference. Time and date stamp helps you to easily identify specific dives in On-Unit Log Mode or PC download memory.
Audible Alarm and Flashing LED Warning Light On/Off
You may choose to deactivate all audible and LED alarms.
Nitrogen Tissue Loading Bar Graph Alarm
Many divers have claimed in the past that Oceanic’s Nitrogen bar graph design provides the ultimate user-adjustable computer. Want to be a bit more cautious? Make it a personal rule to never enter into the yellow caution zone, or stay one pixel away, or – you get the point. Now you can program the Veo 200 to do it for you. Set it once and let your computer alert you when your bar graph reaches a pre-determined level.
Dive Time Remaining
Dive Time Remaining provides a ‘real’ number in minutes. This calculation considers both Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, displaying whichever allows less time. With this unique Veo 250 feature, you are able to program an audible alarm to alert you upon reaching a pre-set number in minutes.
Maximum PO2 Level (Nitrox)
When diving Nitrox, do you prefer your maximum PO2 exposure to be 1.2 ATA? 1.6 ATA? Depending on where you learned and your own personal comfort zone, the answer may be very different from diver to diver. The Veo 250 lets you set your own limit. Program an audible alarm to sound at the level that you prefer.
FO2 50% Default On/Off
Following a Nitrox dive, many dive computers calculate your next dive based on a “worse-case scenario”, mix of 50% Oxygen and 79% Nitrogen should you forget to reset your actual mix. With FO2 50% Default OFF, your mix remains at the original set point until you change it again.
SmartGlo® Backlight Duration
Would you like the backlight to shut off as soon as you release the button? Would you rather it remain on for 0, 3, or 7 seconds? We don’t need to make these decisions for you; it’s your choice.
PC Interface Sampling Rate
You have the option to choose at which rate (timed or depth transition) the Veo 250 samples and stores data for later download to your PC. More frequent sampling will provide extreme detail of your dive profiles with limited storage capacity. Less frequent sampling, while it provides less detail, can store up to 150 dives!
Extended Range Digital Gauge Mode On/Off
Activate Digital Gauge Mode for freediving or dives conducted beyond the limits of the computer.
Water Activation On/Off
Do you tend to keep your equipment in a wet dive bag longer than you should? Are you an Instructor or Divemaster in an environment where your gear is never dry? Would you like to disable the water activation feature? Now you can.

*Battery Life: Battery life estimates are based on full-capacity batteries, and continuous usage as described.
- 7 days per week
- 2 dives per day
- 1 hour dive time
- 2 hour surface interval
- 18 hour interval from last dive to the first of the next day
**Oceanic Personal Dive Computers have user selectable Sampling Rates that determine when data is sampled and stored for subsequent download to associated PC interface programs. More frequent sampling provides more data per dive yet results in storage of fewer dives for download. Use with Air or Nitrox, with or without air integration, dive profiles, and other variables also effect the number of dives that can be stored. Although as many as 150 dives might be stored for consistent 60 foot dives with the Sampling Rate set for a 10 foot rate, as few as 3 may be stored when the profiles fluctuate and the sampling rate is set for a 2 second rate.
